Pediatrics opens on weekends more often than most departments

Of the 6,744 hospitals and clinics open on Sundays, 1,249 run pediatrics. Relative to how many facilities offer the department at all, that is a high proportion — childhood illness does not keep office hours, and the schedules reflect it.

The department is written 小児科 (shonika). Many general clinics list it alongside 内科; the Sunday slot is not always staffed for both.
