Where this data comes from

Every listing on this site comes from open data published by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, under the medical function information disclosure system. Nothing here is scraped, estimated or crowd-sourced.

What the dataset covers

7,715 hospitals, 80,155 clinics, 54,637 dental clinics and 61,398 pharmacies — 203,905 facilities in total. Each reports its opening hours by day of the week, including public holidays, to its prefecture.

We list a subset

This site shows only the 37,177 facilities that open outside normal weekday hours. A clinic that opens 09:00–18:00 on weekdays only will not appear.

What is missing

• Telephone numbers are not in the dataset. We link to maps and official websites instead.
• Supported languages are not in the dataset, so we cannot filter by them.
• Municipal duty-doctor rotas are published separately and are not included here.

How we handle uncertainty

New Year status is derived from each facility's own declaration of closure dates. Where a facility declared nothing, we mark the day unknown rather than assuming it is open. We would rather show a gap than a wrong answer.

Updates and licence

The source data is refreshed twice a year, in June and December. Temporary closures are never reflected — always call ahead. The data is published under the Public Data License 1.0, which permits commercial reuse with attribution.
